TL;DR: Wing Flap/DIVE - Pull up (in repeat to retain altitude) - Bond of Vigor - Wing Flap (to gain altitude) - Bond of Faith (launch) - Immediately remount your griffon. Repeat all steps until you are flying in fucking space. edit: here I attempt to get as high as I can. Just skip through it, it's like 13 fucking minutes long, but it glitches
With regular flying mounts enabled, GW2-like mounts would be relegated to niche of having a bit of fun and perhaps being a bit faster short term. It depends on how they work. In Guild Wars 2 both flying mounts have limitations to make sure they don't invalidate certain ground mounts (like the high jumping bunny, for mountain climbing).
They are both earned in game. The mount skins are cosmetics for the mounts and are obtained through the gemstore. All it does it change the apperance of the mount. Buying a mount skin when you don't have the actual mount unlocked does not give you the mount, but once you do obtain it, you can apply any skins you already have.
Before you start exploring the islands in earnest, you may want to recruit a new friend to help you: a Skyscale. The Skyscale is an extremely versatile mount that can fly, climb up vertical walls
On that website, they specifically showed the default Skyscale to promote the fact that people can now get the mount itself in another (possibly a lot quicker) way. There's no reason to promote any of the other mounts with the "mini" expansion announcements, so there's no need to include them in the promotion material.
The Griffon mount was added during the Path of Fire expansion and quickly became beloved as the first flying mount in the game. How To Get It. The easiest, no-nonsense way to get a mini Nova Griffon Hatchling is to buy it on the Trading Post. It'll run you (at the time of this writing) about 300 gold.
Maybe you are lucky. Oh and if you are a warlock you can get the class mounts from legion they are flying horses too. You can get the Hearthstone flying horse pretty easily. It’s not as badass as the Halloween one, but it’s still pretty cool. Hearthstone is a free game, I think you have to win a certain number of games to get the mount.
So it's a bit faster to press dismount->specific mount than pressing dismount->mount. Also, you can't mount until you touch the ground, except for mounts that can mound in mid-air. So dismounting on an upward slope or near a rock or other high spot will let you touch the ground faster, and be able to mount sooner.
